Wet Room Waterproofing

Wet-rooms are a growing trend, adding value to your home and helping future proof your installation. The key is of course is to ensure that the installation is waterproof. Currently you have two options- traditional tanking using paint on liquid applied sealing membranes or the advanced Classi Kit for Wetrooms which uses waterproofing membranes as part of the installation.   1. Added peace of mind, the waterproofing membrane is a physical protective waterproofing layer.
  2. From start of waterproofing to tiling is approximately one hour. Liquid applied sealing paint on membranes typically require several applications- each with a 24-hour drying period.
  3. Specially designed wet room wastes allow the membrane to interlay ensuring that escaped water is diverted into the waste.

How to use Classi Wetroom Waterproofing Kit

Step 1

Apply tile adhesive to the floor area.

For the floor, apply Classi waterproofing membrane and carefully cut out the hole for the waste, taking care to leave enough membrane to overlap within the waste fitting.

In the corner apply adhesive and corner piece.

Step 3

Apply adhesive and Classi corner and joint tape between the floor and walls.

Step 4

Step 5

Apply tile adhesive and membranes to the wall, overlapping the Classi corner and joint tape joining the all to the floor by at least 75mm. Do not apply wall membrane around the corner – leave a gap of approx 20mm between the Classi membrane and the corner.

Apply adhesive and Classi corner and joint tape to the corners.

For extruding pipes push over Classi Pipe collars, bonding to the wall with tile adhesive and removing excess air.

Waterproofing completed, ready to tile immediately.

Tiling can begin immediately, no waiting time. Following tiling or wall panelling, finish with a Neutral Cure Sanitary Grade 100% Silicone.
